St Matthew's C of E Primary School

Mental Health and Well-being

Keeping children safe and happy is one of our priorities across our Federation. This is done in a number of ways including through RHSE lessons. We have a key member of staff trained as mental health ambassador to help signpost where children and their families can get advice and support when needed. We also have a staff member trained as an ELSA specialist who works closely with children to develop their ability to talk about their emotional literacy.

Across the schools we use Discovery Education to deliver our RHSE which includes learning about:

  • Healthy and happy friendships
  • Caring and responsibility
  • Healthy bodies and healthy minds.

Below is the long term plan. Each half term we cover 1 aspect of RHSE.
