English
English
We believe that all pupils have the right to a high quality reading and writing curriculum. We will create an environment where children enjoy reading and writing ,feel confident to take risks in their writing and become fluent discerning readers that can appreciate and understand the wider world.
Writing
Children are inspired to write by using quality texts or experiences as starting points for their own writing. Where it can be done meaningfully, writing is linked to the topic. The National Curriculum for writing forms the basis of our planning for writing and is closely followed to ensure appropriate coverage and challenge. Writing is taught in units which last for approximately three weeks using The Jane Considine approach which supports children to develop high standards in writing so that they are able to write independently for a variety of audiences and purposes within different subjects.

Mathematics
At the Kite Primary Federation, we are continually developing a mastery approach to the teaching and learning of mathematics. We value real understanding and richer, deeper learning, but with opportunities for children to also build their mathematical fluency.
All children learn the same concept in small, cumulative steps, each finding and mastering challenge at their own level. Most importantly, we believe that when teaching for mastery, that EVERYONE can do maths!

Lessons will enable pupils to express their ideas and thoughts in another language and to understand and respond to its speakers, both in speech and in writing.
